Where to Buy Movie Tickets Online

There are a couple of places that we have found are great resources to buy movie tickets online:

The concept is fairly simple – on either website you can search for local movies a couple of ways and purchase tickets:

1.  By name of film: Go to the website, enter the name of the movie you want to see, then click on the link for the movie.  Then, enter your zip code to find the local theaters closest to you that are showing that movie.  (The theaters that offer local ticketing will be highlighted or somehow indicated.)  At that point you can purchase the ticket.

2.  By your location: Go to either website, enter your city or zip code (zip code works better), then you get a list of the theaters near you, and for each theater listed there is a list of movies currently playing.  Click on one of the movies and purchase the ticket.

Either of these resources (Fandango or MovieTickets.com) charge a fee – but it really can be worth it!  Once you purchase your ticket online, there are ways to get your ticket that allow you to totally skip the lines – and if you are like me, that can be worth it in itself.
